All this running..why are they always running lately?

I'm coming but I'm not running!

Hello everybody and I'm back! I put my pony computer in a different place from where I kept it before so Angel doesn't know where it is. I am really thinking about getting another pony computer for Angel even though they cost 300 carrots. I only have 299. I guess I will ask my sire for a carrot. Or maybe Angel so she can pitch in some carrots for a pony computer that is going to be hers. Anyway, I really wanted to write because lately there has been a lot of running.....especially Charlie my brother. Yesterday evening(and this evening), after me, Angel and Lily were already put in, Netta (the person who takes care of us) let Charlie run into the barn. He was as fast as lightning. Anyway, again today we had visitors. They were oh so very nice. Almost nice enough that I want to adopt them. But I still love my girl's-to-be!!!!

Have you wondered what it would be like to be someone else. I have, sometimes I wish I was a human.
It looks like so much fun. being a pony is hard impressing people and being a Newfoundland pony we all have to do our part and try to repopulate the earth, there are only about 400 of us left, but when visitors come they look like they don't have anything else to do but visit us!  Lily told me that we shouldn't wish for unrealistic things. Now who's saying things? She has wished to be a horse! Now THAT'S unrealistic.

Anyway got to go talk to Angel about the giving me a carrot so I can give her a pony computer.
     Bye!!

Pony Fun!

With the bigger girl. I Like her.

This is my sire Jigger!

Hi everybody, it's Kate and I'm back. I was just put into the garden by the little girls I'm adopting and their dam. There was another person there and I think it was the little girl's sire because the little girl's dam called him 'sweetheart.

Anyway, I am in the garden with Angel and her mom, Lily. They are always frolicking when no one is around but once they hear the engine of a car, truck or van they stop and start grazing again. I probably shouldn't have told you that because once Lily reads my blog (it was secret before I told you) I will be kicked.

I DON'T WANT TO BE KICKED!

OK, I'm good. I want to talk about my breed. There are only four hundred Newfoundland Ponies left in the world when before there was twelve thousand.  Four hundred is a lot to me but apparently there are 8 billion humans so that means my breed is very rare and special. I really like being special and rare-and named after a duchess!

In my last post I said I would tell you more about my life at the sanctuary, so I will.
Today I got carrots from the little girls and it was hectic! I just wanted the last carrot because I hadn't had one yet and Lily and Angel were butting in trying to get the final carrot. Finally, I got my carrot, after so long Angel and Lily gave up and the girls gave me the carrot.

More about my life. I go outside about 8:00am and go in 4:00pm. I think they should put us in at around 7:00pm or 8:00pm because I love being outside. The only good thing about my stall is that it's right next to the hay so if I get hungry(I usually do)I break open the side of my stall and get a little nibble. Every night somebody nails it back in but a couple of kicks and it's open again.

Occasionally I give a little to Lily, she is the dominant mare.

Lately, Charlie (my brother) has been very stud-like...nibbling the mares is what he mostly does but today while Lily was walking to the yummy garden, Charlie tried to chase her. Angel and I think he needs a girlfriend real bad!

A lot of the people reading this probably doesn't know what some of the pony words mean so the next post will probably list those words and what they mean, even daddy doesn't know some of them! Anyway my hooves are getting tired, Lily's kicking dirt all over me and Angel want to check on her PONY HAVEN account.(A pony game where you take care of you own pony)

   Thank you for reading,
Don't be shy, give me a carrot!

Welcome from Kate of the Cove!

Cake for my birthday! I wanted hay-- but it was chocolate-sigh

When I get big I will teach little girls to ride me! I cannot wait!
Dear Reader;
My name is Kate; Welcome to my new blog.  I just turned three so it was time to get a job. I decided I wanted to be a writer.  To practice I am starting this blog about my life and that of my friends and family here at the Change Islands Pony Sanctuary.  It is difficult to type with hooves so I have a very special pony computer. The keyboard is pony sized. It's great. I don't share it  much with my best friend Angel as she will just spend her time playing video games on it. I think ponies should frolic and play outside don't you?

I have been at the sanctuary for three years-I was born here.  I got my name from a very special lady and I am named after another very special lady.  It's a great story.  It happened when the Governor General (a very special man in Canada) came to visit with his wife. Her name is Sharron Johnston.  She loves horses and ponies and so she gave me the name Kate. I was just a filly then and I thought it would be fun to nibble her hair. I didn't but it sure looked tasty. Fillies don't know that hair isn't for nibbling.

I am named for the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William's wife.  Boy do people think that's super pony cool!

Over the next while I will tell you all about my friends and family. They are Jigger(my dad) Heidi(my mom)Colby, Angel, Charlie, Princess, Charm, Lily and Strawberry.

The thing that is important about us is that we're a very rare breed of ponies and the sanctuary is where we can be safe and happy and most of all make baby ponies!  I am putting a few photographs here now so you can see where we live. Of course our sanctuary loves visitors so you can come see for yourself.  Next time I write I will explain a lot more of what my life is like but there are some little girls bringing me apples for a treat.  I love apples!

Off to frolic!

Love,

Kate of the Cove
This little girl visits all the time. I may keep her.
